Regional Development Australia, Tasmania appoints James McKee as CEO and Director of Regional Development

Regional Development Australia (RDA), Tasmania is delighted to announce that they have appointed their new CEO and Director of Regional Development. After advertising nationally and with very high level of interest in the position, the RDA Tasmania Committee has appointed James McKee to the role.

Chair of RDA Tasmania, Professor Sue Kilpatrick said that they were very pleased to make the appointment. "James brings a wealth of regional development experience to the role from across many sectors, from interstate and even different parts of the world".

"James has spent the last 18 years in Tasmania in roles as diverse as the CEO of NRM North, Director of Northern Cities for the Coordinator General's Office, leading the Northern Transformation for the University of Tasmania and the Innovation and Performance team for the City of Launceston".

"James has also played significant governance roles in the State and region including as Chair of Tourism Northern Tasmania, Chair of the Launceston Airport CACG and Deputy Chair of Anglicare to name just a few".

"James also has previous experience in regional development activities in India, the USA and the Murray Darling Basin. While his academic background is in Agricultural Science, his broad range of experience and knowledge across many sectors will be invaluable for RDA Tasmania as we seek to support the best interests of Tasmania".

Professor Kilpatrick also paid tribute to the past CEO and Committee members.

"While we are excited to be entering a new phase as RDA Tasmania, we always stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before. There have been many Committee members and several Chairs who have laid solid foundations along with Craig Perkins who was CEO for over 17 years".

"As a Committee, and I know James shares this sentiment, we are eager to reinvigorate our efforts to see Tasmania and Tasmanians flourish. The times we live in provide Tasmania with many opportunities to capitalise on our natural assets and innovative spirit " she said.

"RDA Tasmania can only do what it does with the collaboration and support of all levels of Government, the community and business. It is these crucial partnerships we want to strengthen and build on" said Professor Kilpatrick. "With the Australian Government as our core funder, we have the opportunity to grow as an organisation and support even great collaboration with and between all our stakeholders" for the benefit of Tasmania.
