  **Tasmania Economic Review 2025**

Regional Development Australia (RDA) Tasmania is proud to release the **Tasmania Economic Review 2025** (TER), developed in partnership with Strategic Economic Solutions. This review presents a comprehensive, data-informed analysis of Tasmania’s economy and its evolving challenges and opportunities.  
  
**Why We Undertook the Review**

Tasmania is changing – and so are the economic, social, and environmental conditions that shape it. As the state recovers from post-pandemic disruption and navigates shifting population dynamics, emerging industry trends, and workforce pressures, RDA Tasmania identified a need to take stock of where we are and where we’re heading.

The review was initiated to:

- Provide a statewide evidence base to support decision-making and policy development
- Identify regional differences in economic performance and resilience
- Highlight Tasmania’s economic strengths and vulnerabilities
- Support local, state, and federal governments, as well as businesses and communities, to make strategic, place-based choices
- Inform the review and update of RDA Tasmania's Strategic Regional Plan.

**What the Review Covers**  
  
Drawing on the most contemporary data available to the end of 2024, the report explores:

- Economic growth patterns and what’s driving them
- Labour market and participation trends
- Population shifts and their implications
- Housing, infrastructure, freight, and industry performance
- Innovation capacity and emerging sectors
- Workforce and education system alignment
- Regional disparities and opportunities

It also identifies areas for future focus, such as improving the learning system, reducing business churn, understanding worker flows, and progressing toward a wellbeing economy.
