Join us on Thursday 6 November 2025 in Hobart for the Tasmanian Regional Development Champions Awards Night — a celebration of the people driving positive change in our regions.

Held in The Cathedral at In The Hanging Garden, this special evening follows the RDA Tasmania Policy Hack and will shine a spotlight on individuals making a real difference to regional development across the state.

Come along to enjoy great company, local food, and select beverages as we recognise the passion, innovation and impact of Tasmania’s regional champions.

Nominating individuals for the Regional Development Champions Awards is an opportunity to recognise outstanding contributions to our communities in Tasmania. 

These awards celebrate those who have made significant impacts through leadership, innovation, and dedication to enhancing regional prosperity. By highlighting their achievements, we not only honour their efforts but also inspire others to continue advancing our region's growth and resilience. 

Each nomination serves as a testament to the transformative power of local initiatives and partnerships in shaping a vibrant and sustainable future in Tasmania for all.

Strategic Thinking

This award recognises strategies where regional development outcomes are the combination of economic and social development that helps Tasmania thrive. This award is seeking outcomes such as employment / workforce / sustainability skills / investment / industrial and commercial development.

Facilitating collaboration and developing effective partnerships is a vital skill for many regional development champions. This award focusses from the planning stage through to implementation stage of an initiative or project. It’s not influenced by the size or budget, but the effectiveness of the methods and approach adopted. This award recognises excellence in regional development through facilitation of meaningful collaboration. Individuals need to demonstrate that there has been an enhanced revitalisation of a community, region or industry by taking a partnership approach. 

This category recognises those who have foster equity, diversity and inclusion in regional development strategies and initiatives. These initiatives are where the community’s or industry’s cultural, religious, linguistic and/or ethnic diversity are fundamental to the success of the regional development initiative. Individuals whose work has centred around gender diversity and/or supporting greater participation for young people or those from disadvantaged communities are also encouraged to apply for this award.

This category recognises individuals demonstrating exceptional leadership and an outstanding contribution to the advancement of sustainability.

This award recognises outstanding achievement by emerging leaders in regional development that also advocate for their place and are opportunistic.

This award recognises the unsung heroes that add value to the regional development landscape without a fuss or bother. These individuals might otherwise not be recognised.

Dedicated and visionary individuals who are sparking ongoing change and are driving action in our region to advance towards a circular future. This award shines a light on those already embracing circularity and are providing a beacon towards a circular future.

This award recognises successful regional development programs, initiatives or activities implemented following a disaster, crisis, industry restructure or economic downturn. This award also recognises regional development programs which are focussed on resilience building and mitigation.
